I should not have taken this post down. My comparison to the billing practices that got us in trouble in adult were correct.

“It’s just a free trial to a paid product and there’s nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is where you promote the free trial and try very hard to put the paid component very much in the small print. This is what Joel Comm did last week when he released a new version of his popular ebook AdSense Secrets.”

I think the difference is that forced continuity means forcing someone to buy a membership/subscription for something completely unrelated in order to get another item for “free”
You’re selling adult subscriptions and giving people adult subscriptions not offering a free trial or free adult video but in order to get it you must sign up for a monthly subscription to makeup or something completely different.

Then that would make sense, but the examples here are Proactiv other companies that are selling a product that rebills, for the same product. As I said, it was the first time I had ever heard the term, perhaps the source of the report is using it incorrectly. Recurring billing in adult is the same thing, $1 trial that rebills at $49.95 per month, same product same site. However, I will admit I took this report at its word and did ZERO research on the term so I guess I better go do that.

AH.. well it only took one search to show I was running my mouth about something I was wrong about.
We had a different name for this, not recurring billing, we called it a cross sell. Which was actually used incorrectly. However it lead to recurring billing.. etc etc.. Now I have to decide whether or not to delete a post I where I ran my mouth, or just leave it and take the flack.
